I made this as a tool to help me setup my monitor at work; that monitor is mostly used for excel, matlab, word, etc: I want it to look good, but there's no point in taking my calibrator there.
So, I set my monitor at 6500ēK (or "warm"), and look at the image. Push contrast to max, and brightness to min. Move brightness up to max, and watch how dark grey strips appear, and light grey strips disappear. Now, lower brightness again until I see as many dark strips as light strips. Finally, lower contrast until the screen is no longer too bright for my eyes. Done.
